pfSense CE practice lab
This is a pfSense CE 2.7 style CLI and shell for a dummy home-lab or small-office firewall. It is not a pfSense box on your network. You can show interface assignments, routes, filter rules, NAT, gateways, the state table, packages, and diagnostics. The config is a teaching SME setup, with WAN and LAN style interfaces already filled in.
Read filter rules and NAT before you add one. The order of filter rules on pfSense is the whole policy. The side panel lists the commands this shell will run. Guest mode needs no install.
This does not replace the pfSense webConfigurator on a real machine. NAT and filter rules answer different questions. A missing port forward will not show up as a blocked LAN rule, and a blocked outbound flow will not show up as a missing gateway. Show the table that matches the symptom. Sign-in only keeps the practice workspace.
Common questions
Which pfSense is this based on?
pfSense CE 2.7 style output and a dummy SME config.
What can I inspect?
Interfaces, routes, filter rules, NAT, gateways, states, packages, and diagnostics.
Will this change my home firewall?
No. The config never leaves the browser lab.
What should I read before editing a rule?
The current filter list and NAT. Rule order is what allows or blocks a flow in this lab.
Open-source firewall CLI/shell practice: interfaces, filter rules, NAT, gateways, packages, and diagnostics with dummy home-lab/SME config.
