F5 BIG-IP TMSH practice lab
This is a browser practice shell for F5 BIG-IP TMSH, styled as TMOS 17.1. It is not a licensed BIG-IP VE and it does not log in to a real appliance. The prompt is root on bigip1.local, Active, in the /Common partition, and every command starts at the TMSH root.
The lab opens with dummy objects you can read immediately: nodes web1 and web2, pool web_pool, and virtual server vs_web on 203.0.113.10 port 80. TCP, HTTP, and clientssl profiles are already present, so show and list commands return a config instead of an empty box. Show system version and hardware, list LTM virtual servers, pools, and nodes, and show VLAN and self IP objects.
The create lines on this page are the real practice path. Add node web3, build pool app_pool with members and a TCP monitor, then create virtual server vs_app on 203.0.113.20 port 8080 and point it at that pool. You can disable node web2, delete web3, and run save sys config. Guest mode needs no VM and no licence. Sign-in only keeps the same workspace on another device. This is command practice, not an F5 exam and not GTM or ASM policy building.
Common questions
Is this a real F5 BIG-IP?
No. It is a TMSH-style practice shell with a prebuilt LTM config. It does not replace a BIG-IP VE or a hardware appliance.
What is already configured?
Two nodes (web1 and web2), pool web_pool, and virtual server vs_web on 203.0.113.10:80, plus TCP, HTTP, and clientssl profiles.
Can I create a pool and a virtual server here?
Yes. Use the create /ltm node, create /ltm pool, and create /ltm virtual examples in the side panel, then show or list the new objects.
Does this lab include GTM or ASM?
No. This shell practises LTM TMSH only: nodes, pools, virtual servers, monitors, VLANs, and self IPs.
Flat TMSH shell — every command starts at root. Preconfigured: 2 nodes (web1/web2), 1 pool (web_pool), 1 virtual (vs_web on 203.0.113.10:80), TCP/HTTP/clientssl profiles.
